In 2014, Kittle’s was struggling to train and improve their 175 salespeople in twelve retail store locations. They didn’t want to simply check the training box. They knew that retail customers were becoming more informed and expected more professional service from their sales staff. Not only were they competing with brick and mortar furniture stores, but with the ever-growing power of the internet. They needed to find a cost-effective solution that would improve their staff to meet customers needs and compete with growing competition.
When it came down to it, Kittle’s had three options to improve their staff. One, they could hire expensive consultants to hold 1-2 day training seminars with their people. Two, they could hire a full-time trainer to try and keep up with all of their people and constant turnover. Or three, use an online program that would allow more affordable, consistent, ongoing and trackable training.
Historically, Kittle’s had used consultants to hold occasional training seminars with very few noticeable or long term results. They also knew that hiring a full time trainer would be expensive and ineffective with the size of their retail operation. So, they chose to have LetterPress provide online training.
